5 things that made the 53rd Super Bowl not so “Super” for this football fanatic.
1. The Super Bowl was held in Atlanta but our home team Falcons did not make it. Instead it had the Patriots playing; they had defeated the Falcons a couple of years ago, coming back from 28-3 that still haunts me.
2. The halftime show was … let’s just say we have seen better. And Atlanta could have done better – from Adam Levin taking his shirt off, to nobody knowing who Big Boi was.
3. The ads were so-so. I am sure most people were thinking what I was thinking – were these ads really worth $5.25 million for 30-seconds??
4. The game was just straight up boring. NOTHING happened. It was the lowest scoring game in the history of Super Bowls and almost killed this superfan’s love for the game.
5. The Patriots won. AGAIN. But there was a silver lining – the game was so boring that I didn’t even care as much.
The one thing that I did like about the Super Bowl – THE 100 YEAR NFL AD!
Along with past players, this ad featured some of the “firsts” of women in football.
Sam Gordon, a 15 year old girl made history when she launched the Utah Girls Tackle Football League – the first of its kind. She was the first woman to win an NFL honors ‘The game changer’ award. Also featured was Sarah Thomas, NFL’s first female official, and Beth Mowins, groundbreaking female football broadcaster.
